Youths should shun violence in 2023 — Peace Commission

The Kaduna State Peace Commission has tasked women, youths and Persons Living with Disabilities on peaceful polls in 2023.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Dr Saleh B. Momale while speaking at an interactive engagement with women, youths and Persons Living with Disabilities at the weekend said these set of people are important players in the peace and security of the state and the country at large.

He said, “Being leaders of tomorrow, we count on the support of youth in ensuring peaceful campaigns, peaceful elections and peaceful post-election events.

“We are optimistic that once youths reject violence in the political process and commit themselves to peaceful processes, the 2023 general election will be most memorable as the freest and most peaceful election in the history of the country.”

He noted that the commission modified the theme for this year’s International Day of Peace to “embrace diversity, build peace” to reflect on the peculiar challenges of managing ethnic and religious diversity as a panacea to addressing the lingering ethnoreligious disturbances in the country.
