Amotekun, So Safe Corps not properly funded, coalition tells Ogun govt

A coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), pro-democracy and human rights groups in Ogun State has expressed concern that the state-owned security outfits, Amotekun and So-Safe Corps, are being underfunded.

The coalition argued that the outfits had not performed optimally in addressing insecurity in the state due to lack of funding.

The Chairman of the coalition, Olayinka Folarin, made the call on Tuesday at a general meeting of leaders of CSOs and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) in the State.

Folarin expressed worry over the rising issues of kidnapping, rape and cultism across the state, saying the insecurity might hamper conduct of peaceful elections next year.

Folarin said the security outfits should be adequately funded and equipped if insecurity would be nipped in the bud.
