The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) has kicked off a nationwide inspection of existing networks of Distribution Companies (DisCos).
It involves technical monitoring of the 33 kilovolts (kV) feeder lines and associated 33/11kV injection substations getting supply from 330/132/33kV and 132/33kV transmission substations.

NEMSA commenced the exercise on Tuesday at the 2X60MVA 132/33KV Kukwaba Transmission Substation, Abuja with a 10-man taskforce.
According to NEMSA, the 10-man team, which was inaugurated by the Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy-Agba, on August 5, 2022 and chaired by Engr Usman Momoh, Assistant General Manager, Technical Standards and Inspectorate Services, NEMSA.
The Managing Director/CEO of NEMSA, Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir, who led his team to the headquarters of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), said the exercise is to identify the challenges at the interface points between transmission and electricity distribution networks that are hindering smooth power supply delivery in the country.
Tahir also said the exercise would help to identify substandard electrical materials in the network, make recommendations for their removal and follow up accordingly.
He urged the AEDC to work with NEMSA to stamp out the inflow of substandard electrical materials and equipment in AEDC electrical networks.
Also speaking, the Managing Director/CEO of AEDC, Adeoye Fadeyibi, said, “It will be a successful exercise by God’s grace. We will work together to ensure that it works. Our own taskforce is going to join the NEMSA taskforce.”
