Hadiza Gabon: I saw when her ‘lover’ called her on video, witness tells court

A witness in the case between one Bala Musa and Kannywood actress, Hadiza Aliyu Gabon, has told a Shariah court sitting in Kaduna that he knew when Musa made a video call with the actress.

The witness, Shamsudeen Mohammad, from Samaru Gusau, Zamfara State, said Musa, who happened to be his colleague, used to call the actress on the phone.

It would be recalled that Musa, a civil servant, dragged the popular actress to court for refusing to marry him after spending over N396,000 on her.

He had explained that they met on Facebook and that since then had been in a relationship with a promise to get married.

But the actress, in one of her appearances before the court, denied knowing him, saying she never met him.

Meanwhile, the witness, Shamsudeen, who was brought to the court on Tuesday from Zamfara to testify, told the court that, “We were together in the office when he (Bala) called her through video call. I saw her in the video briefly on the phone before the network became faulty and they returned to a normal call. He even sent her a recharge card. Although I didn’t hear what they were talking about, but I knew they were in a relationship.”

After his testimony, counsel to the defendant, Barrister Mubarak Sani Jibril, asked him if he saw her (Hadiza) during the video call and he (Shamsudeen) said he did briefly before the network seized.

On whether his friend (Bala) ever introduced him to the actress on phone, the witness said no.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Barrister Naira Murtala, told the court that their remaining witnesses would be coming from Zamfara and therefore pleaded with the court to write to their offices to release them to come and testify, a request the court agreed to.

The Khadi, Rilwanu Kyaudai, directed the counsels to both parties to communicate to the court on the date agreed for further hearing and adjourned.
