The Imo State University (IMSU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the directive of the university’s management for staff and students to resume despite the ongoing strike embarked upon by the union.
ASUU has been on strike since February, demanding better pay and increased funding for the universities.

The union is also aggrieved that the federal government failed to implement the 2009 agreement between them.
The management of IMSU had on Monday directed staff and students to resume classes on Tuesday.
The institution’s spokesman, Ralph Njokuobi, told our correspondent that the university decided to pull out of the lingering strike in the interest of the students and staff.
However, ASUU Chairman of IMSU, Dr Ejiogu, told newsmen that his members would not comply with the directive, saying, “It is not true; we are still on strike.”
