‘The law should take its course’, Kano Chinese community breaks silence on Ummita’s murder

The Chinese Business Community Association of Nigeria (CBCAN) under the leadership of Wakilin Mutanen China, Kano, Mr. Mike Zhang, has condemned the killing of Ummulkulthum Buhari by a Chinese National, Geng Quanrong.
In a statement signed on behalf of the Wakili by his Personal Assistant, Mr. Guang Lei Zhang, said the action is totally condemnable and a criminal act that should be allowed to be professionally handled by relevant security agencies.
According to the statement, “The Chinese community in Kano is fully in support of the law taking its proper course.”
They also appreciated the hospitality extended to the members of the Chinese Community in Kano, saying they will continue to be law abiding, friendly and contribute to the development of Kano while condoling with the family of the deceased, Ummukhulthum Sani Buhari.
Daily Trust reported that the Chinese lover stabbed the 23-year-old Ummita to death, at Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
The incident reportedly happened around 10pm on Friday after the suspect came to visit the deceased, identified as Ummakulsum Sani Buhari, at her parents’ house located adjacent National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in the area.
While reasons of what transpired between the duo that led to the unfortunate event remains sketchy, she was confirmed dead by a doctor after she was rushed to the hospital same night.
The deceased, Ummakulsum, popularly known as ‘Ummita’, was buried around 10am on Saturday according to Islamic rites.
