A former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alh. Abbagana Tata, along with 1,051 party officials and members from ward to state levels at the weekend dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former PDP stalwart said he and thousands of PDP members joined the APC in appreciation of the remarkable achievements made by the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led administration.

In a statement yesterday, Mamman Mohammed, who is the spokesman of Buni, said while receiving Tata and others, the governor commended the new members for the courage and love they have for the state.
The governor described Tata as a principled and self-accomplished politician who could not be materially lured to abandon his party for another.
He called on party members to open more space for those moving from other parties to the APC.
The governor said the new members would henceforth enjoy equal rights and opportunities like older members of the party.
