Police in Bayelsa State have launched a manhunt for the youths who stoned a man said to be mentally deranged to death over allegation of being wizard.
The incident occured at Agudama Epie axis of Yenagoa, the state capital. The victims was identified as John Dimie.

In a viral video on the social media, some youths on September 14 were seen stoning the victim on the rooftop of a building.
Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement on Saturday, said that the viral video was being investigated to identify the perpetrators and arrest them.
He warned members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands, as perpetrators of jungle justice would be fished out to face the full wrath of the law.
He said that the Commissioner of Police had charged operatives of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to fish out the culprits.
He said, “On September 14, 2022 at about 0730 hours, policemen responded to a distress call at Agudama Epie, Yenagoa, that a young man was allegedly lynched by irate youths on allegation of witchraft. Before the arrival of the policemen the youths had deserted the area.
“The victim was later identified as John Dimie ‘m’ who was allegedly mentally deranged.
“In a viral video trending on the social media, some youths were seen stoning the victim on the rooftop of a building. The viral video is being subjected to forensic analysis to identify the perpetrators and arrest them.”
