Volleyball: Nimrod commends U-19 Boys for World championship qualification

The President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, on Monday, commended the national U-19 Boys Volleyball Team for qualifying for the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Boys’ World Championship in 2023.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team retained the title after defeating Egypt 3-0 in the final of the just concluded U-19 Boys African Nations Volleyball Championship in Morocco.

Nimrod who told NAN on Tuesday in Abuja that the team had a wonderful performance during the championship, was optimistic the  players could  one day win the World Cup.

“I am impressed with the performance of the team throughout the championship and for maintaining their dominant posture as defending champions.

“The technical crew has also shown their abilities to interpret games during crucial periods.

“Having won the tournament in 2020 and 2022 under this board, the board will continue to give the team the necessary support.

“This victory shows their level of hard work, discipline, resilience and determination,” he said

The president said Nigeria was the first Sub-Saharan African country to win the Championship twice and will be attending its third championship in 2023.

The championship, which started on Sept. 1 ended on Sunday in El Jadida, Morocco.
