An Abuja magistrates’ court has sentenced an iron bender, Liberty Bukki (37), to one month’s imprisonment for stealing iron rods at his working site in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.
Earlier, the prosecutor, A.S. Oyeyemi, told the court that the accused was on September 1, reported to the police by one Shehu Amadu (chief security officer where the accused worked) for stealing iron rods.

In his submission, the accused told the court that his wife was pregnant and that he was in desperate need of money. He apologised and promised not commit the offence again.
The Magistrate, Olumide Bamisile, convicted him to one month imprisonment with an option of fine of N3,000.
