Navy harps on best practices in law enforcement

The Nigerian Navy Provost and Regulating School in Benue State has stressed the need for its officers to engage in best practices in law enforcement within or outside the military.

Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Provost and Regulating School, Makurdi, Commodore Chindo Usman Yahaya, harped on the virtue during the combined graduation ceremony of two Courses; the Naval Provost Officers’ Basic and the Able Regulators’ Qualifying Courses held in Makurdi on Friday.

Yahaya said that the citadel of learning is where the Nigerian Navy trains and retrains officers and ratings on provost and regulating duties.

He noted that various methodologies were used to train the students including newly introduced subjects such as Cyber Security, Health, Safety and Environment among others, adding that the inclusion of the subjects had broadened the knowledge of the graduands and prepared them to face contemporary and emerging security threats in the maritime environment.

Yahaya also intimated that the school since its relocation from Lagos in 2010, has been operating from this temporary site and that the space had become too small and inadequate for the school.
