We’re not involved in oil theft — Military

The military Thursday dismissed the allegations that its personnel were involved in oil theft and bunkering in Niger Delta.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) had Wednesday said it was tired of producing oil that would be stolen eventually by thieves despite the protection of pipelines by security agencies.

Addressing reporters in Abuja Thursday, Director, Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Jimmy Akpor, said the allegation was unfounded.

Earlier, Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, said tactical surveillance troops of the military had arrested a Boko Haram informant, Mamuda Usman, popularly known as Bado in Asokoro, Abuja.

He said the informant ran an errand for a suspected high profiled Boko Haram terrorist commander in Kaduna, who is on the tracking list of security agencies.

He said on the same day, troops on clearance operations responded to a distress call on a kidnapping incidents at Changal village in Mangu Local Government Area and Pinau village in Wase LGA of Plateau State.
