The support group and events technical committee, Atiku for president 2023 has said it will not join the protest for the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, to tender his resignation.
Fabiyi Oladimeji, the director of the group, stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s breakfast show on Thursday.

He said the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, is a peace-loving person, adding that the former vice president would rather allow the party to decide on the issue.
Oladimeji said, “It’s not for any man to come on national tv and say the party’s chairman should go, there are processes.
“We are facing an election in the next seven months and my question has always been whatever it is, why are we so much in a hurry for the party to remove its chairman?
“The candidate of the party [Atiku] is working day and night to ensure that the party stays united because he understands the value of going into an election united.”
Members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party meet on Thursday to take a decision on the fate of Ayu among other issues.
While some NEC members from the South argued that Ayu’s removal was the only way out of the lingering crisis confronting the party, the chairman’s supporters said he would not step aside at this critical time when the PDP was preparing for the election.
The opposition party had been engulfed in a crisis since Atiku emerged as the presidential candidate.
The loyalists of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had been demanding Ayu’s resignation, stating that the presidential candidate should not hail from the same region as the party chairman; and the Board of Trustees chairman.
However, the majority of NEC eventually passed vote of confidence on Ayu at the end of the meeting on Thursday.
