Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday asked labour leaders to realise that "there is no gain without some pain.
Osinbajo was addressing them at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He noted: "There is no way you will eat an omelette without breaking an egg. There is so much we can do with the Nigerian economy."
He said the government was going to be consulting with the labour union and civil societies on its economic recovery and growth plan to be launch this month.
"There is supposed to be a consultation on it so that we can take a look at the issues that are important, especially to labour and civil societies, and we can incorporate them into the plan," he stated.
The acting president reiterated the government’s commitment to due process and rule of law.
He said President Muhammadu Buhari is "a process-driven person that accounts for the steps he has taken so far."
