Fake PCRC member dupes woman N1.4m in Ogun

The police in Ogun State have arrested a man, Alhaji Musa Araokanmi, for collecting N1.4 million from one Halimot Olorunlomeru under the pretext that he will assist her to buy a car and motorcycles being auctioned by the police.

The suspect, who posed as a member of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), was arrested following a complaint by the victim.

The police spokesman in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim told the police that the suspect introduced himself as the PCRC member in charge of police auction sales.

He said, “She stated further that the suspect advised her to deposit N1.4m with him to get a very good car and motorcycles from the police auction sales. Since he collected the said amount on June, 2020, he was on the run and effort to locate him proved abortive, until he was recently sighted in Ago Iwoye area and arrested.”

He said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had never been a member of PCRC anywhere in Ogun State.
