310 youths trained on agrochemical handling

The Kano State Agricultural Development Project (KSADP) in partnership with Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) through funding from Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has trained and empowered 310 agrochemical handlers on agrochemical spraying enterprise management techniques as well as safe handling.

Speaking to participants during the training, the KSADP Project coordinator in SAA, Comrade Abdulrasheed Hamisu Kofar Mata, revealed that there was need to educate and empower those involved in the business development of agrochemical spraying and also to tackle the issue of unsafe usage of the chemicals that usually result in health issues that require medical attention.

“With the growing agricultural activities in the state and the dangers faced by farmers as a result of poor knowledge on the use of the sprayers, there is a need for operators of agrochemical spraying to take protective measures and also take it as a business they can develop and grow as a viable business that can be sustained,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Isa Bello Dawaki stated that the training had helped them in changing the ways and manner they deal with the agrochemical as well as equipped them with the methodologies of starting a viable business venture.
