No fewer than 160 women and youths were trained on various vocational skills by the member representing Akko Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the trainees in Akko, Alhaji Sama’ila Mu’azu Hassan, said the scheme in collaboration with the National Human Right Commission (NHRC), was aimed to ensure that the beneficiaries have a sense of belonging in the society.
Our correspondent reports that the beneficiaries were trained on fish farming and the production of cosmetics among others.
Mu’azu Hassan called on the beneficiaries to take the skills learnt at the training seriously in order to improve their standard of living and reduce hardship in the society.
He said government cannot do it alone, therefore called for a collaborative efforts from other group and members of the society toward making the beneficiaries employers of labour.
Our correspondent reports that each of the beneficiaries was given N10, 000 to enable them start a business.
The lawmaker called on them to utilize the training they received bysetting up a small scale businesses which he said would help in enhancing economic development in the state.
In his speech, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, appreciated thegesture and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the training and contribute positively in the society.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Ahmed Yayari, Governor Dankwambo called on elected officials from the state to emulate the lawmaker, so as the reduce youth unemployment.
