2 remanded for stealing calf in Kwara

A magistrates’ court in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has remanded two suspects, Nura Buda and Segir Bello, for stealing a calf.

The suspects were apprehended by soldiers of 22 Battalion of the Nigerian Army (NA), Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.

According to the police report, Buda was arrested in Okolowo area last month for selling a stolen calf to Bello for the sum of N30,000.

The police said that during investigation the first defendant, Buda, confessed that he stole the calf and sold it to his co-defendant.

Bello, who is a butcher, admitted to the court that he knew that the calf was a stolen one.

The defense counsel, M. M. Yusuf, pleaded with the court to grant his clients bail, a plea that was countered by the prosecutor, Zacchaeus Folorunsho.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned to October 3.
