PTAD expands zonal branches, to ease access

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has expanded its state branches to promptly address pensioners’ complaints.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, stated this yesterday in Abuja while playing host to a United Nations delegation on human rights of older persons.

In her opening remarks, the ES said as part of efforts to address pensioners’ complaints, “The Directorate established a pension support services department to ensure that complaints from pensioners are addressed promptly, without unnecessary delays.

“PTAD is also expanding the number of branches in states to 11. We recently opened our branch in Oyo State and the addition now is Borno State. 

“The whole idea is to expand our interactions with our senior citizens because the whole idea is to treat them with utmost dignity and also engage with them periodically,” she said.

Also, speaking the Director, Pension Services Support Department Mrs Nneka Obiamalu, said the directorate in its nine years of existence has visited the 36 states of the federation to carry out mobile verification for retirees who are ill, while a benefits computation system was also established to calculate pensioners’ benefits with ease.

The United Nations Independent Expert on Enjoyment of All Human Rights of Older Persons, Claudia Mahler, emphasised that pension remains a social security for older persons, while encouraging Nigeria to adopt dynamic methods of improving service delivery.
