Galaxy Backbone to open N/East office Sept

The North East zonal office of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Nigeria’s broadband company, is ready for take-off in Gombe State next month.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami, disclosed this in Gombe shortly after inspecting facilities at the newly constructed office.

He said the office was part of an ongoing effort in providing broadband networks and taking services closer to the people both in public and private sectors.

Dr Pantami added that Galaxy Backbone’s services had been commercialised and expanded to cover the six geopolitical zones of the country so as to generate more revenue for the government.

He said, “It is part of our strategy to expand our market and we choose Gombe being at the centre of the North East, so as to serve the region when it comes to broadband penetration, data centre services and many more.”

He rated the contribution of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector high in the development of Nigeria’s Economy to about 18.4 per cent, “which had never happened in the history of Nigeria.”

The Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar, called on public and private organisations, as well as individuals, to patronise the services of the organisation so as to have a safe and secure data being generated.”
