Kur said the state presently recorded only a case of cholera which was already being handled.

“We have one confirmed case. There are suspected cases which are not confirmed. That means they are diarrhoea.

“Cholera is only one case up till now. The other, diarrhoea could have been caused through different sources either vis water virus or bacterial but not it is not necessarily cholera,” he said.

Daily Trust reports that during the week a stakeholder’s meeting on cholera emergency preparedness, prevention and response was held at Benue State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (BERWASSA).

State Commissioner of Water Resources and Environment, Dr Godwin Oyiwona, at the meeting, posited that the state government remained resolute in providing social amenities that will improve the lives of citizens within the available resources.

He added that the state ministry of health and other development partners had also continued surveillance across the state to detect and report any cases accordingly for necessary action.
