Kabafest holds September as 200 students get book grants

The Kaduna Book and Arts Festival (Kabafest) 2022 returns to Kaduna in September. The festival, introduced in 2017 by the Kaduna State Government, holds between September 14 and 17, 2022.

The 2022 edition returns to Kaduna, as revealed by festival organisers, and with the usual offerings, you would expect at a literary extravaganza like book readings and launches, poetry readings, booklogues and panel discussions, as well as film and an art fair.

The organisers revealed that the state government would give book grants worth N20,000 to 200 students. The students that apply and get the grant could use them to make purchases at the festival store. It also allows them access to all events. The registration for the 2022 Kabafest can be done online and it closes on September 10. 

The Kaduna Book and Arts Festival, headlined by award-winning author, Leila Aboulela, featured over 50 writers, artists, actors, poets and performers who shared their works with guests. Some of the guests for that first edition were Dami Ajayi, Dr Abubakar Othman, Efe Paul Azino, Edify Yakusak, Hadiza Isma El-rufai, Hafsat Abubakar, Kadaria Ahmed, Kinna Likimani, Kola Tubosun. 

Others were Lola Shoneyin, Samira Haruna Sanusi, Titilope Sonuga, Odafe Atogun, Saddiq Dzukogi and Wana Udobang. The festival went on to run in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
