FG awards contract to link Zangon Kataf, Kauru LGAs

The federal government, through the Ecological Project Office, has awarded a contract for the construction of a bridge, as well as erosion and flood control across River Kaduna to link Zango Kataf and Kauru local government areas of the state.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, while handing over the contract documents to the contracting firm in Kaduna, challenged the contractor to follow the agreement.

Represented by a staff of the Ecological Project Office domiciled in his office, Anthony Dasibo Uruaka, an engineer, the SGF reaffirmed the commitment of the federal government in providing social amenities for the people.

In a remark, the facilitator of the project, who is also a member representing Zango Kataf and Jaba federal constituency at the National Assembly,  Amos Gwamna Magaji, said that when completed, the bridge would serve as the shortest link from Zango Kataf to Kauru town, the headquarters of Kauru Local Government Area of the state.

He lamented how the communities in the past had to spend hours round River Kaduna in a bid to interact and transact businesses that would improve their socio- economic growth.

While calling on the contractors to ensure that the communities get the requisite skills and are engaged in the job, the lawmaker also advised the communities to give them the needed support and cooperation to carry out the project.

The consultant of the project, Funso Facipe, said the bridge was expected to be completed within 13 months.
