New Kano CP assumes office as Dikko bows out

The newly deployed Police Commissioner for Kano State Police Command, Abubakar Lawal, has resumed duty on Friday at the command’s headquarters, Bompai. 
Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a statement that the new CP was received by high ranking officers of the command.
The new CP was deployed to Kano on Wednesday, following the retirement of CP Sama’ila Shuaibu Dikko.
Daily Trust reports that Dikko retired from the police service as the 42nd commissioner of the Kano Police Command on 27th July, 2022 after attaining 60 years of age.
With his deployment, Lawal becomes the 43rd Commissioner of Police in the state.
The Katsina-born Lawal had served in several positions as Police Public Relations Officer in Yobe State Command, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in various divisions in Kano and Borno states, among others.
Before his deployment to Kano, he was Commissioner of Police in Enugu State Police Command.
