He said, “We have reviewed the methodology of conducting our labour force survey, the new methodology is going to span through a whole year, 12 months period, but on quarterly basis, we will be having headline report, not detailed.

“This will be able to give the country, the unemployment rate which may not be able to go down into state by state, gender, sector and all that. But by the end of the year, we will be able to have a comprehensive report on labour force market statistics.”

Adeniran also said NBS is working with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to rebase the Consumer Price Index (CPI) used to measure the country’s headline inflation and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“We are hoping between end of this year and early next, we are going to get the CPI rebased and some of the products there, we are going to have appropriate weight for them.”
