Parents of children missing in Kano State for over 10 years have threatened to boycott the 2023 general elections if their children are not rescued.
They issued the threat in a statement released under the auspices of Protection Against The Abduction, Missing Of Our Children (PATAMOOC) and signed by their Chairman, Malam Isma’ila Ibrahim.

The association, which boasts over 200 parents said the state government had left its members to their fates since the recovery of some of the kids some years ago and the submission of the report of a judicial commission of enquiry set up on missing persons in Kano (2010 – 2019) to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2021, which is yet to be implemented.
“Some of our members have died due to issues associated with psychological trauma and we are not saying that the government has not done anything; as a matter of fact, there was a conviction secured at a Kano State High Court presided by Justice Yusuf Zuwaira, when the court sentenced one Paul Owne to 104 years in a correctional facility for the abduction of 10 children from Kano State to some parts of the eastern region of the country.
“What we are saying is that there is a need to revisit the plight of these parents or members of the association and their entire families will boycott the 2023 general election,” it stated.
The association lamented that the 18 children found in Anambra State had yet to be repatriated to Kano State for identification.
“We are pleading with able individuals, corporate bodies, all the Kano emirates and other agencies concerned to wade in to ease the tension among the parents,” it concluded.
