Reeling out the report, Yakusak said, “The non-oil sector recorded a significant growth in non-oil export as a total of 4.146 billion metric tons of products worth $2.593 billion were exported between January and June 2022 and the figures were culled from the non-oil export performance reports of various shipment inspection agents who are appointed by the federal government to determine volume, value and destination of Nigeria’s non-oil exports”
The executive director added that Urea and fertiliser as well as cocoa beans were some of the top products exported.
“Of the top 15 exported products in the first half of 2022, Urea/Fertiliser recorded 32.49% of the total export while cocoa beans, sesame dead and aluminum ingots contributed 12.65%, 7% and 5.07% respectively within the same period.
“In the same period under review, about 572 companies participated in exporting Nigerian products to 112 countries. Some of these products were exported to America, Asia, Europe and Oceania regions while Brazil, USA and India were the top three export destinations based on the value of exports,” he said.
On exports reject, the ED noted that a committee was set up by the federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment which has concluded its sitting and will soon submit the report on how to tackle the challenges of export reject from Nigerian exporters.
