Tilde said the teachers were recruited strictly on merit and warned that any of them found wanting would be dealt with in accordance with public service rules.

“We shall monitor your conduct as our new teachers to achieve our aim of providing qualitative education for our children,” he said.

The commissioner said the state government had done a lot to advance the cause of education.

Tilde added that in 2021, the state’s education ministry promoted half of its workforce based on meritorious performance.

In his remarks, chairman of the Bauchi State Teachers Service Commission, Mr Musa Wadata, implored the newly- employed teachers to always put the interest of the state first in the discharge of their duties.

He also charged them to regard themselves as indispensable partners in repositioning the state’s education sector.

Wadata said the approval for the recruitment of the teachers was the highest ever in more than two decades.

“This presentation of appointment letters is a clear testimony of the state government’s commitment to uplift the quality of teaching and learning and to address teacher shortage in the state.

“This is indeed a milestone achievement in the history of Bauchi State’s Teachers’ Service Commission and by extension, the Ministry of Education,” he said. (NAN)
