Nigeria’s challenges beyond what a country can handle alone – Masari

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State Wednesday said the challenges bedevilling Nigeria are beyond what one country can solve alone.

 He said this in Igbaja, Kwara State, during the official commissioning of a female hostel named after him by Al-Hikmah University.

 There have been renewed concerns about the country’s economy and security issues with the governor recently calling on residents to resort to arms for self-defence.

But speaking with reporters during the event, the governor said: “Those saying it will be difficult to return the APC in the forthcoming election also said so in 2019 because of the country’s situation. But it has come to pass that they were wrong.“The issues affecting Nigeria have global dimensions as the world is facing crises and inflation.

 “America is going under the worst inflation in the last 40 years, likewise Ghana, Niger and other neighbouring countries. We have to appreciate what is going on in the world before we unnecessarily criticised an issue that is global.

 “The issues we have are beyond what one country or government can solve. This is a passing phase in our developmental journey.”

 Masari, who said his state had spent over N13billion to improve primary and secondary education, pledged to sponsor some Katsina State students at the Al-Hikmah University.

 In their separate remarks, the Founder of the institution and the Vice-Chancellor, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oladimeji and Prof Noah Yusuf, said the occasion signified a new height in the drive of the institution and Katsina State government to improve education standards in the country.
