The troops of 25 Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai have killed Modu Tafjid a top improvised explosive devices (IEDs) specialist of the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) and three other terrorists in an ambush in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, sources have said.
It was learnt that the troops in conjunction with the Civilians Joint Task Force (CJTF) killed the insurgents when they repelled an ambush staged by the ISWAP in Kumala village along Maiduguri-Damboa Road on Sunday.

It was gathered that caches of ammunition such as riffles, magazines, RPG TUBE 1, 36 hand grenades, IEDs making materials, 21 detonators, 21 cords and fuse among other items were recovered.
The source said that several others terrorists escaped with bullet wounds during the fight.
A counter-terrorism expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, said the terrorists detonated an explosive that affected one of the patrol vehicles of the troops before opening fire on them.
He said the vigilant troops engaged and defeated the terrorists after the exchange of heavy gunfire.
He said that an additional reinforcement from Damboa was quickly mobilised to the scene while the Nigeria Air Force Sky Hawk provided air cover for the troops.
He added that one soldier and two members of the CJTF wounded in action were immediately evacuated for treatment.
