The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abutu Yaro, has disclosed that the command will reorganise and train personnel of the Edo Security Network (ESN) as part of effort to build on the success recorded in the fight against kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
Yaro, who disclosed this in Benin at a stakeholders meeting, said the collaboration between the police and the security network had yielded positive results, noting that the police would train ESN men to enable them do their job professionally and effectively.

He said following the collaboration and provision of equipment and logistics by the state government, the Benin-Ekpoma road had not recorded any kidnapping activity.
He said, “In the last 120 days, the only kidnapping activity that was witnessed in the state was carried out on the Benin-Lagos Expressway near Ogbemudia Farm, but was heavily repelled by operatives of the command.
“I can confidently attest that in the past 90 days, the road between Benin and Ekpoma has not witnessed kidnapping.”
According to him, the command has further taken delivery of 15 vehicles and other logistics that will make policing the state possible in order for businesses and other social activities to thrive.
While commanding the state government for providing modern equipment to the police and ESN, he disclosed that the governor had placed a CCTV system that covered almost every strategic place in the state capital.
