The Office of the Head of Civil Service (HoS) has reiterated its determination to collaborate with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to promote professionalism among Ministries and MDAs in the state.
This Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Liman Bello disclosed this in Bauchi yesterday when he received a delegation from the NIPR, Bauchi State Chapter that paid him a courtesy call in his office.
He promised to appoint professionals to manage Public Relations in various Ministries and MDAs which he hopes will be backed by an enabling law which he said will help in promoting the Bauchi State Civil Service.
Bello said that media has been contributing towards changing the attitude of civil servants for the betterment of the state.
He explained that the unscheduled visits he paid to Ministries and MDAs which he introduced on his assumption of duty was a deliberate strategy to make civil servants impact positively on the lives of Bauchi State citizens through effective implementation of government programmes and policies.
He commended NIPR for acknowledging the positive policies of the present administration under Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar particularly the settling of the outstanding salaries of civil servants in the state.
He stated that the state Civil Service is undergoing reforms to ensure it goes inline with civil service reforms of the present administration in trying to restore the lost glory of the Civil Service.
Speaking earlier, Chairman NIPR, Hassan Alhaji Hassan said they were in his office to congratulate him on his appointment as the Head of Civil Service, as well as to commend his effort in supporting the state government to resolve the salary arrears and introducing the unscheduled visits to Ministries and MDAs in trying to provide effective service delivery in the civil service.
He said NIPR has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the state government in 2008 in trying to contribute towards re positioning the civil service in Bauchi state and urged the Head of Civil Service to make the appointment of professionals to manage Public Relations in various Ministries and MDAs.
Hassan used the forum to invite the Head of Service to serve as Guest Speaker during their 3rd Annual Lecture in commemoration of the late former President of NIPR, Muhammad Abdullahi billed for next month in the state.
