Transparency in governance across some states in the federation as well as in budget execution and citizens’ engagement is already happening across some states in the nation.
This was revealed by an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) specialist who also doubled as a Public Financial Management Specialist for the State Accountability, Transparency and Effectiveness (State 2 State) Activity for Gombe State, Dr Eunice Ngozi Akpala-Okoroafor.

She spoke in Jos, the Plateau State capital, at a two-day work planning meeting of State 2 State year three planning for Gombe State, a USAID supported Nigerian activity.
Akpala-Okoroafor said they have been working with six states in the nation currently, and that their intervention has boosted citizens’ engagement in the affairs of governance in the states they operate, namely Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Ebonyi, Sokoto and Bauchi.
She said citizens of the states where they operate have been well carried along in the processes of governance, as they have tremendously supported governance framework down to the local government areas of the respective states, including carrying along persons with disabilities and civil societies.
She said the whole concept of their activities is to support state governments to meet the needs of the people by strengthening the governance framework, chief of which is the public finance management system in order to make maximum use of it and impact the people.
She said they also tailor their activities to check conflict in states because where there is no peace, the states will not develop and grow, pointing out that in doing so, they equally ensure they come out with a proper plan in peace advancement and sustainability.
