A magistrates’ court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday remanded three farm workers in a correctional facility for killing their boss, Jamiu Ibrahim, during a robbery operation.
The suspects, Isiaka Sabi, Hassan Bature and Ardo Umaru, on June 29, 2022, allegedly conspired and killed Ibrahim, a resident of Idofin Odo-Ashe in Oke-Ero LGA.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), five gunmen invaded the late Ibrahim’s farm behind his house in July, and dragged him out into a guinea corn farm where he was shot and abandoned to die for refusing to give them money.
“Concerted effort by vigilantes in Oke-Ero led to the arrest of the suspects.
“During discreet investigation conducted at the SCID, Ilorin, it was discovered that Sabi Isiaka, who is a labourer working for the deceased, invited the other two suspects from different farms to rob the deceased.
“Sabi Isiaka confessed to have conspired with the other two suspects, including Janyo Dogo and Ahiyah (at large), to rob the deceased,” the charge sheet added.
The prosecutor, Thomas Adebayo, urged the court to remand the suspects.
The Magistrate, A. Mogaji, ordered for the remand of the suspects and adjourned to September 1.
