EFCC arrests siblings, 16 others in Kogi

The Ilorin Zonal Command of the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 18 suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation in Lokoja, Kogi State.

This is the second of such operation in the state within the last two months after the command which covers Kwara, Ekiti and Kogi states arrested 19 suspects at different locations in the town in June.

Those arrested in the latest raid include two siblings, Abdulkarim Bala and Ayuba Bala, Adebayo Olubunmi, Yusuf Salawu, Victor Yakubu, Victor Udeh, Abutu Francis, Moses Akeji and Aiyegbe ThankGod.

Others are Eniola Adeniji, Abraham Ayodele, Julius Omowale, Samuel Onojah, Saka Usman Ojo, Isaac Emmanuel, Yusuf Mohammed, Ibrahim Musa and Omaonu Ojochenemi Victor.

“Preliminary investigations have shown that the suspects operate as syndicate to scam unsuspecting victims”, Ayodele Babatunde, the anti-graft spokesman said on Tuesday.

He added, “Items in their possession include five different brands of exotic cars, phones and laptops adding that they have volunteered useful statements to the Commission.”

He said the suspects would be charged upon the conclusion of investigations.
