The Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) has sealed over 50 radiological diagnostic centres from 2021 till date, the registrar of the board, Professor Mark C. Okeji, has said.
He made the disclosure Saturday after the sitting of the disciplinary committee of the board in Abuja.

He said they were sealed across the country for various malpractices, ranging from lack of registration by the board, and use of quacks to carry out ionizing radiation.
Professor Okeji said the disciplinary committee of the board heard and determined a case of professional misconduct against a radiographer, Dr Anthony Chukwuka Ugwu, a lecturer in the Department of Radiography, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.
He said Ugwu, who is also the owner of St Michael Diagnostic Centre, Nnewi, Anambra State, was found guilty of various acts of unethical behaviour, unwholesome acts and infamous conduct, in contravention of the code of conduct and ethics of the board.
The registrar, who is also the secretary of the disciplinary committee, said Ugwu was suspended for 24 months and ordered to pay N1million to offset the incidentals incurred by the board.
The registrar explained that Ugwu had refused to honour invitations by the Investigative Panel and Disciplinary Committee of the board.
He advised the public to always demand for the current practising licence of the radiographer in any centre they visit whenever they want to do an x-ray, ultrasound, CT scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), among others.
He added that a good centre would have the licence of the radiographers displayed visibly at the entrance of the centre.
