About 18 shops, houses and several vehicles were burnt when gunmen invaded the Izombe Community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo state on Saturday.
The attack happened few hours after gunmen suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) hit the Agwa Divisional Police headquarters in the same local government area, killing four police officers.

It was gathered that two of the victims — female officers — were set ablaze after being killed.
Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen arrived at Izombe Community in the early hours of Saturday, shooting sporadically.
An eyewitness said that the gunmen, suspected to be members of Ebubeagu security outfit also went on a looting spree during the attack by the gunmen.
The eyewitness, who spoke on phone said, “They burnt vehicles, set ablaze about 18 locked-up shops and stalls comprising of pharmaceutical stores, machine spare parts, wine, assorted drinks shops, decoration, boutique shop here in Izombe.”
