The Emir of Bichi emirate in Kano, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, has organised a prayer session to seek God’s intervention over the lingering security challenges facing the country, particularly in the North.
The prayer session was held at the Bichi Central Mosque on Friday and was attended by the Emir, district heads, clerics and residents of the emirate.
The Chief Imam of the Bichi emirate, Khalifa Lawal Abubakar Bichi, led the session with recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed with supplications and intense prayers for leaders and fellow citizens of the country.
While praying for an end to the security challenges, the Imam also prayed for bountiful harvests during raining season, seeking God’s intervention in ensuring peaceful, free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
“We need to repent to Allah and seek his forgiveness. All these are happening as a result of our habits and wrong doings. May Allah forgive us all,” the Chief Imam said.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the prayers, Chairman of Bichi Local Government Council, Professor Yusuf Muhammad Sabo, said the prayer session became necessary considering the security challenges in the country.
He also said as the 2023 elections is fast approaching, there is the need for intense prayers for peace and good leadership in the country.
“We are facing serious security challenges in the country, therefore it is imperative to organise such prayer sessions to seek peace, unity and progress in our nation. We should also endeavour to pray to have peaceful elections in 2023,” he added.
