The abducted final-year student of Fine and Applied Arts of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Opadele Rachael Abiola, and one Olugbenga Owolabi, have been killed after payment of N5 million ransom.
The Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Alao, who confirmed the killings to journalists, said, “It is true. They have been killed.”
The victims were abducted on Thursday night at a hostel in Abaa community in Surulere LGA of the state.
City & Crime learnt that the victims were killed on Tuesday evening.
Our correspondent gathered that the news of their death sparked protest by students and residents of Ogbomosho on Wednesday.
Our correspondent further learnt that the Okada rider who took the ransom to the kidnappers was also shot but survived.
A family source, who also confirmed the incident, said the kidnappers must have suspected that police were tracking them along with those bringing the ransom.
He said, “The Okada man is still alive, but seriously injured. He is still in the hospital. For security reasons, I cannot tell you his name and the hospital. We want government to see this as attack on Ogbomosho land. This is becoming unbearable for us. These people have turned kidnapping to daily business.”
The Students Union Government (SUG) President of LAUTECH, Anuoluwa Adeboye, when contacted, said he had not confirmed from the police.
The police spokesman in the state, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached for comment.
