Hundreds of families across Fika, Nangere, and Potiskum Local Government Areas of Yobe State have been languishing in abject poverty and hunger for years due to their inhumane, immoral, and illegal ejection from the civil service payroll.
You may recall, back in the years during the administration of Alhaji Ibrahim Geidam, a political vendetta mission was covered under a shady verification exercise, which turned out to be a victimization mission for those who were deemed to be sympathetic to other political parties in the state. Unfortunately, this matter has not received any attention under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, which is a continuation of Geidam’s government.
Several fronts have been explored by the victims to get their problems addressed formally and favourably. However, there was no serious government to listen to them. As a last resort, the matter has to take a legal dimension. The victims took the Buni government to the National Industrial Court for a hearing. What a huge embarrassment to a government that claimed to impartially serve its people.
The good news is that the opposition parties if determined, have one more resource to use to chase Buni out of the government house. If Buni’s government cannot listen, the opposition will.
