Farm Inputs Support Services Department (FISS) of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and rural development (FMARD) has announced the commencement of registration of agrochemical manufacturers and agrodealers selling fertilizer and agrochemicals to farmers in the nation as a measure to address the issue of proliferation of fake and harmful agrochemical products to innocent Nigerians.
Speaking to agro-dealers in Kano state during a market sensitisation campaign held at Sabon Gari market in Kano state, Deputy Director FISS Mr Abba Bashir revealed that recent findings have shown that a lot of deadly ailments are attributed to the food eaten that are contaminated due to the use of some harmful agrochemical by farmers.

He explained that the farmers were using such harmful chemicals without knowing that such practices can lead to untimely death of innocent people. He further revealed that it was on this note that the federal government based on global practices is agitating for the stoppage of the use of some identified agrochemicals that contained chemicals like Chloropyrifos, Blocade, Certilain, Oleorel among others.
In his remark, the national President Nigeria Agro Inputs Dealers Association (NAIDA) Alhaji Kabir Umar Safa urged all members to support the move made by FISS in ensuring that businesses are done on a more safer grounds for practitioners to prosper as well as to grow their business in a more lawful way. He further gave the assurance of adequate compliance to the new innovation.
