An elder statesman, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, says his recent interview with Media Trust, wasn’t intended to promote crisis or hatred among the people of Plateau State.
Kwande was responding to the statement credited to the leadership of Berom Educational and Cultural Organization (BECO), regarding the said interview which he granted Media Trust recently.

The elder statesman said a statement signed by the secretary-general of BECO, Chollom Gyang, published in some media platforms accused him (Kwande), of advocating the creation of an Emirate in Jos, adding the secretary-general, described him as “irrational, weird, unintelligent and highly incoherent and conflict an entrepreneur.
“He also said, “I hate natives of Jos and love to create bloodbath without accompanying evidence.”
But in a letter of complaint signed by Kwande and titled “Re: Yahaya Kwande’s horrific prescription on what is needed to end the Jos crisis”, and addressed to Da Jacob Gyang Buba, chairman of Plateau Traditional Council, Kwande described the BECO’s the secretary-general’s statement as “an obvious rudeness, display of anger, lack of respect, foul language and total lack of decorum employed to describe me.”
“I feel pained because these do not represent what I have worked and stood for all my life. All this is untrue. It is unfortunate and sad. The issues which irked the secretary-gene were misrepresented.
“I make bold to say that in the interview I granted Daily Trust, I was not abusive. I didn’t employ any harsh or negative words to refer to anyone, less so my Berom brothers. This also applies to the other native communities of Jos,” he said.
