Armed thugs have attacked Kurna Asabe community in Dala LGA, injured and robbed many people.
A resident, Malam Aminu, told our correspondent that, “I saw over 50 of them around 1am. They knocked severally on my door but I refused to open it. They then broke it and came in. They stabbed me severally on my head but thank God I survived it. They took our phones, money and other valuables.”
An imam in the area, Malam Hamisu Maigemu, said the thugs were over 100 and that they were lucky to chase them away with the help of vigilantes after they had stabbed over 20 people.
He said, “They came with empty sacks but left with the sacks full of mostly our phones. They robbed over seventy houses.”
He added that, “This is our major problem now. It’s been long that we slept properly. We need serious assistance.”
Reacting to the incident, spokesman of the police in the state, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said they had arrested five suspects in the area and that they had confessed to being part of the gang.
He said, “A team of policemen led by SP Sani Garba, DPO of Rijiyar Lemo, while on surveillance patrol arrested the following suspects: Nafiu Ibrahim, Aminu Jibrin, Auwalu Ibrahim, Abdullahi Mamuda and Fatima Isah. And on investigation, the suspects confessed to being in the gang terrorising Kurna area and robbing them of their property.”
