Mrs Ogunsuji described the distribution of the medical items as part of the Fund’s intervention on COVID-19 to cushion the effect of the pandemic.

She further explained that the VSF has constructed 4,000 litres solar-powered boreholes in three secondary schools across in the state.

The benefitting schools include Government Girls’ Secondary School, Kuri, in Yamaltu/Deba LGA; Government Secondary School, Latata, in Shongom LGA and Government Secondary School, Malam Sidi, in Kwami LGA.

Gombe State governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya said the state has benefited a lot from VSF interventions, especially in the areas of health, education and other interventions.

Represented by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, he said the food items provided will help the beneficiaries to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the hospital equipment will help to combat disease outbreaks in the state.

He commended the VSF for the construction of boreholes in some select secondary schools in the state, saying it will prevent the outbreak of water borne diseases.
