NFF hammers Ottasalo, Bayelsa Utd, others over infringement

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is leaving no stone unturned in its bids to bring sanity into the football system as its disciplinary committee has wielded the big hammer on some clubs.

Following a meeting held in Abuja, the NFF has fined Ottasalo FC N1,000,000.00 for assault on the Assistant referee II, and the medical expenses inclusive after the referee had identified and prevented the 12 ineligible players of the club from participating in the match against Bayelsa United FC.

The players forcefully joined the cleared players while they were filing into the pitch of play thus leading to a serious fracas.

It will be noted that the Nigeria National League (NNL) had issued a circular dated 13th May, 2022 to the effect that no club shall be allowed to use temporary licenses in the 2nd Stanza of the League.

But on 28th May, 2022, Ottassolo FC presented players with temporary licenses for their match against Bayelsa United FC, hence a protest by Bayelsa United FC against the eligibility of such players.

The committee also fined Bayelsa United FC N1,000,000.00 for assault on the Technical Officer of Ottasolo FC while banning the proprietor of Ottasolo FC, Gabriel Davies from all football related activities for one year.

The committee also directed Kurfi Tigers FC to pay N100,00 only to the NFF, being the balance of the protest fee for the two protests filed against I. Kanta United FC and II. Jedo FC.

In the same vein, the NFF struck out for want of jurisdiction the petition from Kogi United FC filed against J.M Liberty FC to the Nigeria National League (NNL) in respect of match 94 week 16 played on 11th day of June 2022.
