Lessons from the attack on Kuje Correctional Centre

Nigeria for years has been suffering from security challenges that have claimed lives and property worth millions.

The sign of uncertainty on the faces of Nigerians is a clear indication that government is still passive in securing them. The attack on the Kuje Correctional Centre has heightened the tension and fear in the country, with the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) saying it is responsible for the attack.

It is, therefore, important that all leaders at local, state and national levels give security forces their support to crush  anyone found guilty of fueling insecurity in Nigeria. Citizens could be of great assistance in securing our territories through instant alert to security agents on strange persons or activities around them.

The judiciary on its side should be quick in adjudicating on the cases related to terrorism. Everyone has a role to play in curbing  criminality to make Nigeria a safe country.
