This was disclosed by the governor of the state, Prof Charles Soludo represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha-Mba, at the passing out parade of 2021 Batch B Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Anambra State on Thursday at the Ekwueme Square, Awka.

“Regrettably, we lost one of you, in the course of the service year. On this note let’s pause for a minute in honour of our fallen hero… may the soul rest in peace,” he said.

The governor also promised to address some of the challenges at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Mbakwu/Umuawulu, in Awka Local Government.

He said that he will specifically address the erosion menace ravaging the camp, noting that he has contacted professionals that would handle the hazard.

According to him, the State government cannot watch while the structure at the camp is washed away by erosion.

Meanwhile, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma, disclosed that three corps members were recommended for state award and 11 for State Coordinator’s letter of commendation.

“I am glad to report that out of these Corps members, 3 of them have been recommended for State’s Honor’s Award and 11 for State Coordinator’s letter of Commendation.

“On the other hand, 42 Corps members defaulted in at least one out of the four cardinal programs of the scheme and have been recommended for correctional measures ranging from 2 weeks extension to an outright repeat of service,” she said.
