A youth group in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind the best candidate for the choice of the party’s running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
The APC Youth Coalition for Effective Progress (AYCEP) said the party should produce a candidate who will guarantee success in the 2023 elections.
Briefing newsmen on Monday, the coordinator of the group, Iliyasu Ibrahim Makinta said they have endorsed former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, because of his personality, hard work, and commitment which he showed during the immediate past presidential primaries leading to emergence of Bola Tinubu as the party’s candidate.
“We nominated Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential flag bearer because he will make an effective government,” he said.
On the raging debate over the suitablity or otherwise of a Muslim-Muslim ticket, he said what is important is an effective administration that would bring benefits to all Nigerians.
“You can see that our presidential flag bearer has a Christian wife whom he had lived with for more than 40 years, and as First Lady, you are like a vice president.
“We are praying to have an effective government.”
