A source in the church who craves anonymity told our correspondent that the suspect, who is an iron bender, was contracted by the leadership of the church to carry out some renovations in the facility, but he ended up stealing the property of the church.

The source said; “Yes, I was part of the group that went to the police station. He stole property valued at N50,000 from the church. How can a contractor turn into a thief? The police will soon send him to court for prosecution.

“Our people need to learn the need for them to be truthful at all times. If you talk about hardship, we are not left out. We are all going through the same challenges. How can somebody steal from a church? This is still a mystery to me.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said investigation is ongoing into the matter, adding that updates would be provided accordingly.
