Two large culverts along the Bauchi-Gombe federal highway in Bara village of Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State have been washed away by heavy flood, leaving hundreds of commuters and motorists stranded.
Motorists plying the road from Gombe to Bauchi or from Bauchi to Gombe could no longer pass through the road.
The secretary to the Bauchi State Government, Ibrahim Kashim Mohammed, a lawyer, and the member representing Kirfi constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, said this while interacting with reporters in Bauchi.

The flood was the aftermath of a heavy downpour from last Thursday evening to Friday morning.
Our correspondent also reports that many communities around the area have been flooded following the torrential rainfall.
The sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Yusuf Abdullahi, said the incident happened about 10km away from Bara, along Gombe road, pointing out that no life was lost.
He said all hands were on deck to fix the road, noting that it would take about one week for it to be motorable.
Abdullahi, therefore, advised motorists travelling through that axis to use alternative routes.
